How do I set up my domain for use with Blogger?

Blogger is a blogging service hosted by Google. If you have a domain registered through and managed by Canvas Dreams, you can set up your domain so that requests for web traffic will direct out to Blogger.

Google’s page for creating a CNAME for a custom domain through Blogger can be found here:

Creating a CNAME record for use with Blogger

There are possible scenarios for going about setting up the domain.

1. If you have a hosting account with Canvas Dreams and wish to set up a subdomain of that domain for use with Blogger, simply create a CNAME entry for that subdomain within the Advanced DNS Zone Editor as follows:

Name TTL Class Type Record
(subdomain).(yourdomain). 3600 IN CNAME ghs.google.com

Note: replace “(subdomain)” with the subdomain, and “(yourdomain)” with the primary domain for your account.

Also, note the trailing “.” after the name entry should be added.

2. If you have a hosting account and wish to set up an additional domain for use with Blogger, first park the domain on your hosting account by going to Parked Domains and adding the domain, then edit the domain via the Advanced DNS Zone Editor as follows:

Name TTL Class Type Record
www.(yourparkeddomain). 3600 IN CNAME ghs.google.com

3. If you don’t host the site but just have a domain registered with Canvas Host, you can log into our Support system, then in a separate browser consult this KB article:

This will give you instruction on setting up custom DNS records to create the following custom Host Record:
